FedReg Intel for October twentieth, twenty twenty-six. Today: a USDA proposal about imports of certain beef and ovine meat.
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service proposes to change the minimum maturation temperature for fresh, chilled or frozen boneless beef and ovine meat from certain listed regions affected by foot-and-mouth disease. The proposed change is from four degrees Celsius to two degrees Celsius. USDA says other existing mitigations would remain unchanged. The agency says the proposal would align its regulations with the World Organization for Animal Health’s standards while continuing to protect against the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease. This is a proposal, not a final rule. Comments are due December twenty-first, twenty twenty-six. The official notice and docket link are in the description.
Read the official notice for the scope, evidence and comment instructions. If you comment, explain how the proposal affects you and point to specific evidence.
